'Every child can learn, just not on the same day, or the same way!'
The DON BOSCO School, Malda believes in the process of self-discovery and learning, thereby honing individuality and uniqueness in each child. The focus is on creating awareness in students, providing them with experiences that they could apply to real-life situations and make informed choices for themselves. This world-class education will be delivered in state-of-the-art environs and add to the overall excellence the school will stand for.
At DON BOSCO School (DBSM), curricular and co-curricular activities are given equal importance and every student's needs — intellectual, physical and emotional — are met through a curriculum to be followed by all as per NEP-2020 in CBSE Schools. The approach to learning and teaching is inclusive and integrated, with the Shri Shikshaks leading from the front in imparting value-based lessons aimed at sensitizing the students right from the primary level.
DBSM will be affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and will provide a gateway to a global arena.
The curriculum for Pre-Primary (Five years)
Nursery to class II are play-based and child-centric, recognizing the students' multiple intelligences and encouraging creative thinking. A day at the Pre-Primary involves much free play, both indoors and outdoors, and structured time. Indoor free play is based around a series of activities such as Dramatic Play, Sensorial Learning, Art and Discovery Hour, Wonder Time, Move Time and No Bag Day Activity.
Primary School would cover a period of (Three years)
Grades II to V, during which the basic skills in all subjects are further enhanced and higher-level thinking and application skills are introduced to challenge students and stimulate their interest. The Primary School curriculum focuses on the spirit of exploration and acquiring sound language skills, clarity of mathematical concepts through data collection and interpretation, and understanding of scientific phenomena via observation, experimentation and inference.
Learning is enriched by a number of activities such as drama, storytelling, poetry, music, I.T. modules, discussions and a wide range of artistic and hands-on activities.
In the Middle School years (Three years), the students will experience the joy of learning, gain a deep understanding of important concepts, develop research and experimental skills and learn to accept personal responsibility for actions, decisions and outcomes. Classroom and lab work will be strengthened with educational trips. Along with these essential Scholastic areas, the rich and varied Co-Scholastic program at DBSM will include eminence programs and community service, especially at the Middle School level.
The Senior School would follow the CBSE syllabus. Here too, the endeavour would be to make learning more student-centric and interesting. Therefore, the focus would be on projects and presentations based on group activities, which inculcate the values of teamwork.
At this level, some of the approaches adopted would include inquiry-based learning to motivate students to reflect and research widely and appreciate a curriculum that follows an interdisciplinary approach.
